The Old Red Truck

Alright so this makes two blogs in a row that are not about just music. But don't worry I have not abandoned music I have just had two things that I felt compelled to blog about.

Last Saturday my dad bought a new Ford Expedition. Which is a great vehicle and I am sure that we will enjoy it for many years. However it was very bitter sweet for me because in order to get the new Expedition he had to trade in his Ford F-150.

 As we drove to Car-Max it had me very reminiscent on all of the great places we have gone in the truck in the last seven or eight years. I remember vividly the day that dad and I went to pick up the truck I was about six years old and absolutely loved the truck. I told my dad that I would wash it every day. I also remember when I was about eight years old riding to a state park with my dad to do a workshop where we were going to build some kind instrument that I had never even heard of (the dulcimer).  Then I remember later that year going to my first dulcimer lesson, then my first dulcimer festival. All of the great trips I have been on for the last seven or eight years have been with the truck. Even with the big dent in the side of the truck, the very low quality CD player and sometimes having to cram a lot of stuff into a small cab, none of that really mattered to me it was Dad's truck and there was no vehicle in the world that I would rather ride. I know Dad made a good decision about getting the new Expedition and I am sure that it won't take long to get used to it. But I don't think I will ever like the Expedition as much as the old red truck.
