I have always liked Appalachian and Bluegrass music, and making things. So when my dad found an ad in the paper for a dulcimer building workshop at a nearby state park, he thought that would be perfect!
We took the class, which was taught by Bob Thomason, together, and came out with a simple but functional instrument. That was my first dulcimer - the one I learned the basics on. And even though I don't play it much anymore, it still has a very sweet sound.
That dulcimer, which we built in February 2007, has sure survived a lot of being dropped!
